Chamberlain Federal Building Lansing—Judges Chambers project

  • This project involved the demolition and gutting of existing interior spaces and the installation of all new mechanical and electrical systems, architectural wall systems, high end millwork and finishes.
  • Brix self performed all demolition, carpentry and drywall systems.
  • As the General Contractor, Brix was able to successfully complete this project well ahead of owners schedule despite numerous changes and modifications.

US Coast Guard Station, St. Clair Shores, Michigan-Replace Floating Docks

  • This project involved removing existing floating dock systems and replacing them with 2 new docks weighing about 40 Tons each. This project was undertaken in the middle of November with choppy waters on the Detroit River and very cold wintry temperatures.
  • The docks were delivered on two flat bed trucks in sections to be field assembled off-site on the Detroit River.
  • The project presented significant logistical problems. The staging area was virtually nonexistent. There were significant risks involved in hoisting the sections as well as having a crane large enough to pick the docks safely in very tight quarters.

Cheboygan GLIB Design/Build Site Improvements - United States Coast Guard

  • Design/Build Project consisting of post 9/11 site and security improvements for the US Coast Station in Cheboygan, MI
  • Brix Corporation, as the Prime Contractor was responsible for assembling a Design/Build team comprising A/E and select trade contractors for the various phases of contraction. The Brix Corporation Design/Build team, working with the US Coast Guard facilities group design intent documents developed all design drawings and documents for this project
  • A pre-engineered metal building was constructed to provide storage space for Coast Guard equipment as well as an outdoor covered patio/pavilion for picnic and recreational activities
  • Installation of CCTV Perimeter System (Closed Circuit Television) to comply with post 9/11 security requirements, along with main entrance renovations and security gate and fence installations
  • Brix Corporation was able to successfully complete this project while working through many design revisions and modifications do to varying site conditions in relation to its close proximity to Lake Huron

Bernard A. Friedman - Fitness Center

Brix Corporation was the General on the project that included the renovation of an existing space in the basement of the Levin Federal Courthouse in downtown Detroit for construction of a new fitness center for the Courts.

  • Electrical work included new fire alarm tie-ins to building monitoring system, electrical for exercise equipment , television stations, and all new lighting
  • Demolition included removal of all existing masonry partitions, existing wood flooring, concrete saw cutting to tie-in to city sanitary lines
  • New concrete flooring, carpeting, specialty flooring, and refinishing of existing hardwood floors in corridor areas.
  • Construction of Men’s and Women’s locker rooms complete with showers, lockers, and lavatories
  • Project was completed well ahead of the owner's schedule
